Fire Safety Training Program

Mr. Syad Khuda Bakash of M/s. Max 2 Max made a lively and interactive presentation on some of the important aspects of Fire Safety. From locating & using of fire extinguishers to other aspects of dealing with fire hazard, every aspect was covered. Participants feed back was positive and most said it was an eye-opener to the them. This training had participation of 60 people from 15 member Industries.

While Mr. Rajesh Mallya, President - Elect and Mr. Varun Chairman HR/IR Panel welcomed the participants in the morning, the concluding session was conducted and certificate issued by President Mr. Ashwathnarayana Swamy, Hon. Secretary Mr. S. Chandrasekaran, EC Members Ms.Renuka.M, Dr. Ranga Reddy and Mr.Ajay Bansal.

Industrial Safety and Health

WACIA in association with the Department of Factories, Boilers, Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Karnataka, organized a Training program on Industrial Safety and Health on Jan 7, 2020 at the WACIA premises.

This program inaugurated Mr. D. Ravi Babu, Asst. Director of Factories and Mr. Ashwathnarayanaswamy, President of WACIA and other office bearers witnessed a huge participation from 122 employees of 32 companies.

WACIA in association with MVJ Medical College & Research Hospitals

(MVJCRH) and Lions Club Bangalore East conducted a Free Health Check Up Camp at WACIA premises on 20th December 2019. This Camp was inaugurated by Mr. N.S Nandiesha Reddy President, BMTC and Ex MLA, K R Puram assembly constituency in the presence of Mr Ashwathnarayana Swamy, President of WACIA and other office bearers.

More than 400 employees belonging to various member industries of WACIA attended the Camp and benefitted from it. We had the largest contingent of doctors from MVJMCRH, lead by its chief by Dr. Pramod himself. This team had specialist doctors from OB & G, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, General Medicine, Surgery and BP & Sugar checkup disciplines. Employees needing medical attention were identified during the Camp and advised to under go suitable treatment.

WACIA has been conducting similar free Medical Health check Camp for the benefit of the employees of member industries for the past many years besides organizing regular voluntary Blood Donation camps.

As a part of this event, Dr SR Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing also conducted a mobile camp for audiometry evaluation of the people who attended the event.

WACIA once again thank entire medical and paramedical staff of MVJCRH and Dr SR Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing and all the participating member companies for their extensive support for this Camp conducted under the leadership of Mr Raghav Poojary, Chairman of the Health and Sports of WACIA.

TDS AWARENESS SEMINAR

It is heartening to note that the Income Tax department has chosen WACIA to hold a TDS awareness seminar. This seminar trained the participants in all aspects of TDS including:

WACIA and Beejadakatte Fans Association (BFA) jointly organized a half day session on "Code on Wages 2019 and it's Implication" on Saturday 7th December 2019. 44 employees participated in this program.

Members of WACIA celebrated WACIA Day on 30th November 2019 at Hotel Aloft Whitefield. Highlights of this program were a presentation on the journey of WACIA since 1973. An engrossing panel discussion on the topic. Downturn and the Way Forward ended on very optimistic note on positive days ahead. A keynote presentation by Mr. Chandrashekhar Shetty was well appreciated by a record audience of more than 150 people.

First Aid Training

First Aid Training on 17th October 2019.

A First Aid Training was conducted in WACIA on 17-10-2019 by St. John Ambulance as organized by WACIA under the regular workshop/training for the benefit of it's member industries. 67 employees belonging to 14 various member industries have participated this enlightening training. Shri Sannamariyappa, the experienced and passionate faculty demonstrated first aid with the help of practical demo.

Blood donation Camp

Blood donation Camp on September 20, 2019.

The Health and Sports Committee of WACIA under the Chairmanship of Wacian Raghava K, had organized the PD Agarwal Blood Donation Drive at the WACIA premises on 20th Sep 2019 in association with the Bhoruka Group of companies. This Camp, inaugurated by WACIA President Ashwathnarayanaswamy along with Mr Ramesh, CEO of Bhoruka Trust, lasted for six hours and collected 137 units of blood thanks to excellent donor support from the employees of WACIA members and the Bhoruka group.

Flood Relief Materials

Flood Relief Materials sent on Aug 17, 2019

True to its spirit and nature, WACIA rose to the occasion to provide immediate relief and succour for the flood victims in Mudigere, Vadigere and Attigudur Villages in Yadgiri District of Uttar Karnataka. Members of WACIA participated in the relief efforts by generously contributing relief items such as food grains, blankets, personal care products, medicines etc for the affected people. These items, totally valued at over 10.00 lakhs, were dispatched to the above villages through two trucks on this 17th August.

Free Mega Health Check Camp

WACIA in association with MVJ Medical College & Research Hospitals held a Free Health Check Up Camp at WACIA premises on 23rd April 2019. The turn out of 450 employees belonging to various member industries of WACIA and the number of doctors provided by the hospital for this camp was unprecedented. and the hospital team of doctors lead by Dr. Pramod himself this meet. Few were detected diabetes and provided medicine as a temporary relief and advised for constant monitoring of blood sugar.

With the intension of sharing best HR practices in WACIA, the Second Best HR Practices session was held at Makino India Private Ltd., Whitefield Road, Bangalore on Friday, March 15, 2019

The programme was presided by Mr. M R Kori, President, WACIA. The Vice President and Director of Makino India, Mr. D A Biradar delivered key note address during this occasion.

Under the ideology of ‘Sharing is Caring’, Mr. Mahesh M, Manager for HR & Administration at Makino India Pvt Ltd., shared the best HR practices followed at their Company in HR & Administration matters. The Members from various Companies benefitted by this session as focus was more into bringing Automation in HR & Admin processes and also developing skilled man power.

Ms. Renuka, the Leader for HR & IR Panel of WACIA, Mr. Ashwath Narayana Swamy, President Elect of WACIA, Mr. Rajesh Mallya, Secretary to WACIA were also present during this programme.

A workshop on Industrial Safety and Health was conducted on 21st February 2019 by Mr. Ravi Babu D, Assistance Director, Dept. of Factories and Boilers Govt. of Karnataka.. This program emphasized the need for good, healthy & safe habits and practices on the factory shop floor. Quality of the program was well appreciated by the participants who also shared their best own practices. 124 Participants from 28 Industries took part. While Mr. Rajesh Mallya, Hon. Secretary welcomed the participants. M.R Kori President along with Ms. M. Renuka EC Member and Asst. General Manager HR/IR,VST Tillers Tractors inaugurated the program.

Annual Cricket Tournament

The Flag ship event of wacia 6th annual cricket tournament for 2018-19 was conducted on Sunday the 17th February 2019 at the ITI Grounds, Dooravani nagar.18 teams participated from member companies.
Some of the member companies such as SAN Engg & VST sent 2 teams and many other companies such as Quantum Aeon and Associated hydro participated for the first time.

The game was conducted on knock out basis played in two pools of A & B simultaneously in adjacent grounds.
The first time entrant M/s, Associated Hydro Pressings Pvt Ltd was the winner and M/s. VST Tillers Tractors Ltd (A Team) was the runner up of the tournament 2018-19.
Past President Mr. R.N Hegde ,Vice President Mr. Silvain Noronha, Hon. Secretary Mr. Rajesh Mallya, ,Ms. Shanthi Executive Committee Member, Mr. Balaji Brindavan Co-opted Member and members of WACIA cheered the teams from the side-lines.

WACIA in association with Kabel Schlepp held an interactive meet about Doing Business with Germany on Thursday, 12th July 2018. President Mr. M R Kori welcomed the audience and Mr. Henning Preis-COO & CFO of Tsubaki Kabelschlepp Group interacted extensively with the audience. CEO CONCLAVE 2018

Whitefield Area Commerce & Industries Association (WACIA) held its annual CEO Conclave at Aloft Whitefield on 16th June 2018. President of WACIA Dr. Purna Chandra Rao welcomed the gathering and spoke about the challenges businesses face like infrastructure, lack of skilled manpower and timely bank assistance. Mr. Harish Bijoor, Brand Guru and Founder of Harish Bijoor Consults Inc. in his keynote address extolled the urgent need to adopt technology. Chief Guest Sri. Arvind Limbavali, MLA of Mahadevapura informed the audience about the challenges that Whitefield and Mahadevapura faced due to rapid growth and the need to protect the environment. Dr. Chandrasekhar Sripada, Professor at Indian School of Business explained how to change challenges into opportunity. Two outstanding entrepreneurs were honoured with Business Excellence Award in the conclave. Mr. S K Rajamane, Founder & Chairman of Rajamane Industries Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. R K Sharma, Founder & Proprietor of Associated Commercial Enterprises. Treasurer Mr. Ashwathnarayanaswamy thanked the sponsors of the event while Hon. Secretary, Rajesh Mallya K thanked the dignitaries and members. The event was followed by entertainment.

Minimum Wage and Power Tariff meet

WACIA Knowledge Series meeting on Increase in Minimum Wages & Power Tariff attracted 51 participants including more than 40 WACIA members.

Dr Gubbi Subba Rao, who handled the subject relating to the notification of the government of Karnataka on minimum wages, dwelt on various methods by which organizations could deal with the impact of the proposed hikes including legal recourses that are available.

Mr MG Prabhakar discussed at length the hike in the power tariffs across Karnataka. While dwelling on the subject, he suggested ways to overcome instances of over billing of BESCOM under several heads and how to claim refunds in such instances with interest.

Both talks were received very well by the participants who took back a lot of valuable insights and useful inputs to handle the two of the biggest problems facing our companies today.

Annual Cricket Tournament

Annual cricket tournament was held at the picturesque Gurukul Sports Academy. 11 teams took part which was well organised by the Committee headed by Mr. Srinivas Kumar. President Dr. Purna Chandra Rao, Past President Mr. M K Rajamane, Mr. Rajesh Mallya, Secretary and Mr. Ganeshan and other members cheered the teams from the sidelines. IFB Industries Ltd., was the winner and IFB Automotive Ltd., was the runner up of the tournament.

Budget Meet

WACIA organized a panel discussion on 2018 Budget : This program jointly organized with Rotary Bangalore Whitefield Central drew over 40 participants and was an unqualified success. The panelists and the moderator did an excellent job to ensure that the discussions were analytical, incisive, informative and engaging.

Training on First Aid

WACIA conducted yet another edition of the Training on First Aid on 19th January for the benefit of our member establishments and several non-members too. This certification program conducted by Mr. Sannamariyappa of St Johns Ambulance was a big hit with 86 participation from 17 industries attending and benefiting from it.

Ms. Asha Krishna, Enforcement Officer from EPFO, K R Puram interacted with representatives of 16 member industries and explained new schemes launched as well as online updating of subscriber data.

Members Education Initiative - Knowledge Session #2

To herald the new year WACIA organised a very informative and interesting topics for this session by choosing two eminent speakers:

Dr Nimish Shah, Director R&D, Unilever India who has also recently authored a book entitled Swachha Bharat for Swastha Bharat spoke about his experiences in transforming the country and the people through these initiatives.

Mr Suraj Kumar who gave up his lucrative employment with corporate such as Amazon and Yahoo! to turn in to an organic farmer to help rural livelihoods through sustainable rural entrepreneurship programs. He spoke about the revolutionary Zero Budget Natural Farming, an innovative farming and gardening technology that saves water, space and efforts.

Members went back enriched after the event.

Interactive Meet with BESCOM & BMRCL

Mr. Shantha Mallappa, Executive Engineer of BESCOM along with his colleagues Mr. Lokesh - AEE, Mr. M M Sali -AEE and Mr. Naveen Kumar - AE held a grievance redressal meet at WACIA on Friday, 29th December 2017.

WACIA was able to persuade a BMRCL to depute their engineers to make the meeting even more interesting and informative. They graciously sent Mr. K.C Madusudhan Asst. Executive Engineer, Mr. Sathish Nadimpalli Asst. Engineer.

Members were able to clarify their doubts with regards to power tariff and load shedding and disruptions due to Namma Metro work.

Member Education Initiative - Knowledge Session #1

Mr. Nandu Unni, a well known Thought Leader gave a talk to more than 30 senior decision makers from member industries. This event was held in association with Essae Chandran Institute.

Badminton Tournament

A badminton tournament, a first time event at WACIA, was arranged for employees of member industries. Participants took part enthusiastically and were appreciative of the arrangements. The winners are: Women Singles Ms. Lavanya ( Mcnally Sayaji) 1st place. Ms. Ashwini (Mcnally Sayaji) 2nd place.

Fire Safety Program

Sri. Hemanth Kumar, District Fire Officer attached to the Mahadevapura Fire Station, made a lively and interactive presentation on some of the important aspects of Fire Safety. A conducted tour and demonstration of a fire engine was an eye-opener to the participants of fire-fighting and first-aid capabilities of our fire engines and the fire department officials. The second session on Handling Fire Victims was conducted by Dr Pradeep, MD of Brookfields Hospital, Whitefield evoked much interest from the participants, especially their emergency two-wheeler ambulance service. This program attracted participation of 40 people from 11 companies.

Vendor Development & Investors Summit 2017

As part of the road show for Vendor Development & Investors Summit 2017, Mr. Hanumanthe Gowda, President, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association ( KASSIA ) along with Mr. Umashankar - Hon. Secretary, Mr. K. N Murthy - Treasurer and other office bearers visited WACIA on 15/11/2017. The interactive meeting was lively followed by felicitation of the KASSIA President and team by members of WACIA.

An interactive business meet

An interactive business meet in which Dr. Purnachandra Rao; President welcomed those present and highlighted that procurement, procedure and customer had all come under one meet. Dr. Shai Moses, Consul General for Trade and Economic Affairs, Consulate General of the State of Israel in Bengaluru showcased how trade with India had increased over the years and how Israel can be a trade partner to the Indian manufacturers and service providers followed by a lively Q&A session. Ms. Soma Chaudhary, Deputy Director, FIEO highlighted the way her organization was facilitating exports to various countries. Mr. V Suresh Babu, NSIC informed that his organization was aiding industries in procurement of critical raw material including extending financial assistance. Mr. Rajesh Mallya K, Hon. Secretary thanked all those present including the dignitaries.

Interactive Session on EPF with EPF Authorities

A Grievance Redresal Camp was held by EPFO as part of their vigilance week on 03/11/2017. Mr. Raman Danasekar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner along with Enforcement Officers Mrs. Asha Krishna and Mr. Sampath Kumar covered all the aspects of EPF including new schemes. 38 Participants from 22 member Industries 16 participants from Non Member Industries.

Successful completion of Blood Donation Camp

Successful completion of Blood Donation Camp at our WACIA office in association with Rotary Bangalore Whitefield Central and TTK Blood Bank. We have been able to collect a total of 67 unit of Blood with the support of all our fellow members organizations and their contacts.

Interactive Meet with BBMP, BESCOM and BWSSB

An interactive meeting was organised on 25.10.2017 with BBMP, BESCOM and BWSSB officials so that members could have a direct interaction with them and get their grievances redressed. Ms. Vasanth Kumari Dy. Commissioner, BBMP, Mr. M.M Sali, AEE, BESCOM and Mr. Mirza, AEE, BWSSB were present for this meet and various issues faced by members were discussed.

Basics training program on M.S Excel

The program on Basics of Excel attended by 20 participants from eight companies received enthusiastic and positive feedback from all the participants. Special mention was also made of the way in which the program was conducted by the trainer Ms. V. Padmini. Participants recommended that WACIA must do at least one more of this program for benefit of their colleagues and also a program on Advanced Excel to improve their knowledge and skill in Excel.

Workshop on 5- S and Kaizen

WACIA conducted a program on 5S & Kaizen for the benefit of its members on 15th Sep 2017 at the WACIA conference Hall. This program was attended by 35 participants from 15 industries and educational institutions. This program was inaugurated by our President Dr Chalasani Purnachandra Rao who extolled the participants to make 5S a way of their life - both professionally and personally. Mr Muralidharan of Value Enablers was the Chief Trainer for the program. This training program was received very well and the participants requested WACIA to conduct this program more frequently to help other members of their organization also.

Workshop on Industrial Health and Safety.

A workshop on Industrial health and safety was conducted on 14th September 2017 by Mr. K. Srinivas, Deputy director, Dept. of Factories and Boilers. This program emphasized the need for good, healthy & safe habits and practices on the factory shop floor. Quality of the program was well appreciated by the participants who also shared their best own practices. 66 Participants from 22 Industries including a whopping 24 participants from one company – Shakti Precision Components India Pvt Ltd attended the program.

First Aid Training

A First Aid Training was conducted in WACIA on 22-8-17 at WACIA by St. John Ambulance as organised by WACIA under the regular workshop/training for the benefit of it's member industries. 66 employees belonging to 20 various member and non member industries have participated this enlightening training. Shri Sannamariyappa, the experienced and passionate faculty demonstrated first aid with the help of practical demo.

WACIA organises the First Aid training every 3 to 4 months in association with St. John Ambulance, a Govt. of India recognised reputed service organisation.

Interactive Meet with MD of Namma Metro

Sri. Pradeep Singh Kharola, IAS, Managing Director of BMRCL was scheduled to address the concerns of members during the construction of Phase 2 from Baiyappanahalli to Kadugodi, which unfortunately he could not attend due to pressing matters elsewhere.
A large number of members and other Whitefield residents had already gathered. President and the office bearers used the occasion to collect views of those gathered and have submitted them in a memorandum to the Managing Director.

Annual General Meeting

44th AGM of WACIA was held on 28th June 2017 at the conference hall of the association. In a glittering ceremony Dr. C. Purnachandra Rao was elected as the new President along with a new team of office bearers.

GST- AN UPDATE

Overview - GST

Shri BT Manohar, Chairman, State Taxes Committee FKCCI Smt. K Saraswathamma, JCCT (Admin), Shri Mr. K.S. Basavaraju, JCCT (e-Audit), G.o.K conducted the workshop at WACIA on 18th April 17.

The 56 participants from 29 member industries of WACIA benefitted from the workshop. Mr.Prabhu M Rajamane, President WACIA, has expressed his desire to conduct one more session on GST at a later stage. Mr.MR Kori, Secretary WACIA thanked the distinguished speakers and the participants who interacted well in order to acquire sufficient knowledge on the subject and their employers for sparing their valuable time for undergoing the workshop.

First Aid Training on 11-4- 17 at WACIA

A First Aid Training was conducted in WACIA on 11-4- 17 at WACIA by St. John Ambulance as organised by WACIA under the regular workshop/training for the benefit of it's member industries. 46 employees belonging to various member and non member industries have participated this enlightening training. Free Health Check up camp

A free health Check Camp jointly organised by WACIA and Lions International Bangalore East in association with MVJ Hospitals at WACIA on 04.04.2017. 256 employees belonging to various member industries of WACIA availed this opportunity. Few were detected diabetes and provided medicine as a temporary relief and advised for constant monitoring of blood sugar.

Doctors and paramedical professionals of Lions speech and hearing Institute conducted a mobile camp and tested the hearing effect of many.

WACIA has been conducting similar Medical check for the benefit of the employees of it’s member industries for the past many years besides organising Voluntary Blood Donation camps.

Workshop on Fire Safety

A workshop on Fire Safety was organized on 27 December 2016 by Govt of Karnataka Fire and safety department. This session was followed by a live mock drill. This wprkshop was conducted by Mr.Hemath Kumar, the District Fire Officer, Mahadevpura. This workshop covered topics like, ways and means of fire fighting, use of fire extinguishers, prevention, precuations to be taken while fire fighting, etc. There was a live tour of a fire engine which was present at the venue. It was a very interesting and an eye opener for all. This was participated by 58 participants from 17 industries.

Workshop on Industrial Health and Safety.

A workshop on Industrial health and safety was conducted on 22nd November 2016 by the Deputy director, Dept. of factories and boilers. It was a good program which emphasized on good, healthy & safe habits on the factory shop floor. It was conducted well and was well appreciated by all participants. A few EHS managers of a few members like GE, UTS Aerospace, shared their best practices followed in their organizations.

Women Employees – Opportunities and Challenges

An exclusive workshop for women employees, titled as Women Employees - Opportunities and Challenges, was conducted by Ms. PADMA HEMANTH, Senior Faculty of M/s. Unique Consultants, Bengaluru wherein the faculty presented the subject and 20 women employees belonging to various member industries of WACIA received it very well.

Workshop on Talent to Talent PLUS

Mr.J Srinivasan popularly known as JS conducted a unique workshop on Talent to Talent + on 22 -9-16. The topic was designed on the philosophy that people have equal value, but not equal strenths. Some people seem to be blessed with a multitude of talents. Most of us have fewer abilities. We need to build on the strengths to be more effective.

First Aid Training

Employees from various member industries of WACIA participated in the First Aid Training program conducted by Shri BN Sannamariyappa from St.John Ambulance. WACIA has been conducting the in regular intervals.

Workshop on GST Awareness

Shri BT Manohar, Chairman, State Taxes Committee FKCCI and Dr.BV Muralikrishna, Joint Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Govt.of Karnataka enlightened the WACIANs, about GST and its functioning. It was attended in large numbers. Participants actively involved in the interactive session and expressed their desire to undergo on a similar Workshop later, before the implementation of GST.

Income Tax Declaration Scheme

A few senior Income Tax Officers presented the intention and advantage of the Income Tax Declaration Scheme ( IDS ) through a workshop held on 29 July 2016. Participants were enlightened on the scheme as the IT officers demonstrated the scheme well and also on account of healthy interactive session.

Training Programme on First Aid

SAN Engineering & Locomotive Co.Ltd. won the WACIA Inter Member Industries Cricket Tournament by defeating defending champions SLV enterprises in a thrilling encounter. Total 12 member Industries participated in the tournament played at ITI Cricket Ground on 26 Dec 2015.

The representatives of concerned departments noted the points and replied suitably and assured that immediate steps will be taken to solve the problems.The session was followed by lunch.

E-INITIATIVES UNDER KVAT ACT

A workshop on “D-initiatives under KVAT Act” was organised by WACIA on Wednesday, the 6th Aug 2014 at WACIA from 11.00 am to 2.00 p.m.

Mr. B.T. Manohar, Tax Consultant and Chairman of State Taxes Committee, FKCCI updated on KVAT and other Commercial Taxes with amendments/notifications and circulars. Dr. B.V. Murali Krishna, Jt. Director (e-audit) Commercial Tax demonstrated on e-initiatives focusing on uploading of purchase and sales towards e-audit.

A number of 46 participants attended the programme and appraised. They also gave a very good feedback.

Export Management Program by FIEO

A workshop on “Export Management Programme” was organised by WACIA, jointly with Karnataka Chapter of Federation of Indian Export Organisations, an apex export promotion body set up by Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India on Wednesday, the 23rd July 2014, at WACIA FROM 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. followed by Hi-Tea.

Senior level officers from the Office of Jt.DGFT, Customs, Export Credit and Guarantee Corporation, Banks, VTPC besides FIEO made presentation during the event and also provided required clarifications to the participants. 50 members participated in this event.

The objective of the seminar was to sensitize the business community on the opportunities available in export trade, including the associated market requirements, a better understanding of the reasons for exporting, available export opportunities, basic export market requirements for export business and gain knowledge of related services.
