The Whitefield Area Commerce and Industrial Association (WACIA), formerly known as GBIA, is a nearly four decade old Association, which is continuously playing a significant role in addressing various social security concerns of its member industries and the community around its operational limits.
Be it an infrastructure issue, getting the problems of industries addressed through the various government authorities, upgrading the skills of industrial workforce through industrial trainings, ensuring compliance to statutory requirements by the member industries, arranging meetings with the senior officers of BBMP, KSPCB, Directorate of Factories, Traffic Police, Commercial Tax, Central Excise and Customs, ESI, PF and other statutory bodies, WACIA is always in the forefront.
Keeping its objectives in view, WACIA conducts sports events, free health and blood donation camps, participates in environmental initiatives for the benefit of member industries and their families. The benefit of these initiatives, we are sure, enable the member industries to fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibilities.
Currently there are about 200 listed members, apart from about 500 non-member industries, who are actively involved in all the activities carried out by WACIA and the benefits of these activities are also being extended to all other industries in our industrial belt.
Owing to the timely notification of the policies of various departments of the government, the member industries are always updated about the policy changes and amendments.
Keeping in view the drastic changes in the industrial scenario in our area and in order to step up mobilization of new members, the name of the association was changed from GBIA to WACIA. Consequent to this initiative, it is anticipated that WACIA would be able to get many more new members from the Commerce community and also Industrial Units operating in and around Bangalore East, such as Whitefield, Hoskote and other industrial cluster, including units operating in Bangalore Urban. Having achieved some of the major objectives since its inception, the association has earned the recognition in the industrial society, by the government authorities and the community around it.
